Simulations

Explore neural interfaces from membrane currents to complete anatomical pathways. The laboratories below are grouped by scale and purpose, with the principal interface and cortex tools first.

01

Design & Microfabrication

  1. Neural Interface Designer

Create micrometer-scale electrode layouts with circle, square and ring contacts, array patterns, automatic lead routing and physical-scale exports.

  2. Neural Interface Studio

Design neural electrodes, fabricate them in a digital cleanroom, inspect connectivity and sheet resistance, and compare replayable runs.

  3. Microfabrication Laboratory

Build a flexible neural electrode one material layer at a time. Inspect masks and live cross-sections, change alignment and etching, then test continuity, isolation and exposed contact area.

02

Neural Interface Laboratories

  1. Retina Laboratory

Place electrical, PRIMA photovoltaic and optogenetic devices in one retinal model. Inspect fields, neural response, published percept baselines and matched experiments.

  2. Cochlear Implant Laboratory

Follow sound through frequency bands, interleaved pulses, finite electrode fields and a 65-compartment auditory nerve model. Compare geometry, coding strategies, recruitment and acoustic vocoders.

  3. Optogenetics Laboratory

Explore light delivery, ChR2 kinetics and reconstructed human-neuron responses. Compare expression patterns, photocurrents, pulse trains and response maps.

  4. RPNI Design & Testing Laboratory

Design muscle-graft regenerative peripheral nerve interfaces. Position finite bipolar contacts, route synthetic motor units, calculate recordings and cross-talk, and compare geometry with an explicit transport diagnostic.

  5. Biohybrid Neural Interface Laboratory

Calculate an engineered living neural bridge: active branched cells, axonal propagation, host–graft synapses and finite-contact recordings. Run matched causal controls, separate graft and host signal sources, and compare controlled parameter studies, seven experiments and exploratory growth.

  6. Neural Interface Laboratory

A single pointed test shank with eight finite surface contacts and twelve active human neurons. Follow voltage across every cell, stimulate selected pads, and inspect ideal recordings and somatic spike rasters.

  7. Cortex Laboratory

The original single-cell laboratory: stimulate a reconstructed human neuron, run sustained patch-clamp experiments, and replay membrane voltage across its morphology.

  8. Cortical Stimulation Laboratory

Shape finite electrodes, steer current through cortical tissue, and follow active neuron responses. Compare materials, pulse waveforms, membrane traces and recruitment at realistic cellular scale.

  9. Cortical Recording Laboratory

Explore a volume of neurons in 3D. Place up to six contacts in the neural population, compare a depth probe or array, inspect synthetic recordings and export raw traces.

03

Cell Models & Electrophysiology

  1. Cell Growth Laboratory

Grow neurons from precursor states through membrane mechanics, cytoskeletal support, branching and physical encounters. Inspect axons and dendrites in culture plates, 3D organoid environments, regeneration scaffolds and biohybrid interfaces.

  2. Soft Neural Generator

Independent experimental soft-cell model: adhesive spreading, flexible internal scaffolds, local actin-like waves and exploratory neurite growth. Separate from the Cell Growth Laboratory; whole-cell crawling remains a work in progress.

  3. Cortex Population Laboratory

Place distinct human neuron models in seeded random distance clouds, shells or grids. Shuffle angles, apply shared electrode stimulation, and inspect population voltage replay and recordings.

  4. Cellular Electrophysiology Laboratory

Three linked scales of electrical behavior in one workspace: current-clamp responses, membrane-channel kinetics and passive cable spread. Each explorer retains its original controls, plots and model references.

  5. Cell Model Atlas

Browse published human neuron fits and measured Allen and H01 morphology references. Open individual electrical models in the Cortex Laboratory.

04

Tissue Mechanics

  1. Brain Tissue Mechanics Laboratory

Explore nonlinear tissue mechanics, physical-time relaxation, creep and recovery. Compare published regional material fits, finite-element formulations and experimental curves with explicit accuracy limits.

  2. Cellular Tissue Mechanics Laboratory

Deform a native-position crop of measured H01 human-cortex neurites with the shared Phase 2 mechanics field. Replay physical-time histories, inspect source identities and import attributed surface geometry.

05

Anatomy & Pathways

  1. Peripheral Nerve Regeneration Laboratory

Follow seeded parent axons through degeneration, repair, distal growth and remyelination. Inspect anatomical trajectories, compare assumptions, run ensembles and consult the primary-source evidence.

  2. Finger Pathway Atlas V4

V4: follow 78 connected sensory and motor routes through 306 individual cells in one intact anatomical model. Zoom from finger to cortex with adaptive cellular detail and 50 scientific reference plates.

  3. Finger Pathway Atlas V3

The complete original V3 atlas: anatomical models, detailed cellular specimens, sensory and motor journeys, original controls and 50 comparison plates. Available alongside V4 for comparison.

  4. Peripheral nerve cross-section

Original sandbox with electrodes, pulse visualization, zoom/pan, and experiment export/import.

06

Measured Recordings

  1. Neural Interface Recording Library

Inspect measured Neuropixels, Utah-array, WIMAGINE, peripheral nerve, RPNI and retinal data. Select channels, zoom through real samples and follow source events; published observations remain distinct from simulation predictions.
