Scale & model notes

The measured ST centreline is available, but these lumen surfaces are reconstructions. Membranes, modiolus, organ of Corti and individual neural routes are reconstructed anatomy.

The 35 mm reference place axis maps by normalized arc length to this specimen’s 22.247 mm ST medial curve for display only. Electrical fields and cable integration continue in the original unrolled homogeneous conductor. Display distances must not be used as calculated electrode–neuron distances.

Measured surface asset unavailable. Lumen surfaces are reconstructed around the measured ST centreline; they are not the original mesh.

A bounded representative set of type I fibers is shown. Their curved routes are reconstructed display paths; compartment colors alone can show the actual cable replay. Neurites and somata are enlarged for visibility. Type II fibers and measured nerve trunks are anatomical context only.

Measured OpenEar ZETA chamber surfaces with reconstructed membranes and sampled neurons. Calculated sources and nerve responses are mapped onto the anatomy for display.

Acoustic demonstration

Listen to the coding constraints

A separate acoustic preview of up to 2 seconds.

Vocoder audio demonstrates selected coding constraints. It does not reproduce an individual implant user’s hearing. Generated vowel audio is synthetic; neural calculations use the shorter window above. Preview playback uses fixed output gains, and vocoder output has RMS normalization.

Controlled electrical measurements

Probe the electrode–nerve interface

The contact scan delivers one isolated biphasic pulse per source at the configured maximum current. It measures propagated neural recruitment independently of the audio. The threshold search uses the selected contact and fiber.

What is calculated

Causal filtering, envelopes, channel selection, charge-balanced electrical pulses, finite-contact extracellular potentials, active membrane dynamics, and propagated axonal spikes.

Model boundary

A generic unrolled conductor and sampled deterministic nerve population. No patient-specific cochlea, validated long-term adaptation, ECAP recording, or speech-understanding prediction. Read the equations and verification.
