Fudan University, Brain-Interface and Neural-Electronics Groups

Fudan University groups in Shanghai with cataloged neural interfaces: an active silicon-transistor ECoG array, an MRI-compatible fiber electrode and the brain-spine interface behind the Shenfu Jianxing spin-out.

Fudan University in Shanghai hosts several separate groups that appear in this catalog. They are listed together because each sheet names Fudan as origin, not because they form one laboratory.

Cataloged hardware and applications

  • Active silicon-transistor multimodal cortical interface: Song Enming and Zhang Rongjun are the corresponding authors of the 2026 Advanced Science paper. A 4 x 4 transistor array records ECoG, temperature and light in anesthetized rats. No human use is reported.
  • MRI-compatible PEDOT:PSS fiber electrode: from Fudan’s Institute of Fiber Materials and Devices, the Institute of Science and Technology for Brain-Inspired Intelligence and the Neuromodulation and Brain-machine-interface Center. Authors include Li Wenjun, Li Xiao, Peng Huisheng and Sun Xiaoyu. Rat study, National Science Review 2026.
  • Brain-spine interface: developed by Jia Fumin’s Fudan team and its company, see the Shenfu Jianxing company brief. Hardware specifications are not published in the sources the sheet used.

Program claims versus study evidence

Fudan’s own news page lists a whole-brain amplifying microelectrode array from Song Enming’s group, built from thousands of silicon nanofilm transistors. That page names no paper, so this brief does not treat it as the same device as the 4 x 4 array above. The two animal-study sheets are research devices; neither shows human use.

Not public or not verified

Group size, funding and any clinical program beyond the brain-spine study are not stated in the sources used here.
