Optogenetic living electrodes BMI study (2020)
A second major study for the Cullen Lab’s living electrode constructs:
- Development of optically controlled “living electrodes” with long-projecting axon tracts for a synaptic brain-machine interface. Science Advances, 2020.
The constructs carry optogenetically actuatable neurons so light drives synaptic output into host circuitry - a biological input channel for a brain-machine interface. Preclinical; human performance is not established by this source.
